MyPlanet
Projects
Our most ambitious project to date, MyPlanet has been meeting in conjunction
with the Eilat City council to discuss plans to increase the area’s energy
efficiency and produce its own green energy.
Israel's southernmost city, Eilat is a tourist paradise and port located at
the northern rim of the Red Sea. Part of the Southern Negev Desert, Eilat’s
city's beaches, nightlife and desert landscapes make it a popular destination.
With the Egyptian village of Taba to the south and the Jordanian port city
of Aqaba to the east, Eilat is a small international city with a population
of 55,000.
Environmental Objective:
MyPlanet is in the process of helping local businesses in Eilat become more
efficient energy consumers with a goal of reducing their energy and water consumption
by 10% within one year.
Environmental Action Plan
Participating businesses will each receive MyPlanet energy audits and direct
supervision to increase energy efficiency and develop green energy production
strategies that will outfit the city for the future. Our benchmarking processes
will provide each participating company with a comparative industry analysis,
which will be followed by an in-depth energy and cost efficiency development
strategy unique to each business model.
As one of the strongest solar regions in the world, Eilat is perfect subject
for an effective solar power plan—especially since the Eilat/Eilot region
consumes over 160 megawatts of electricity during peak hours. MyPlanet’s
goal is to turn Eilat into a solar-powered city making renewable and efficient
energy strategies part of every level of civic life.
Our water consumption experts are also in the process of developing practical
water recycling (greywater) and efficiency practices to reduce consumption
of the potable water supply.
